7 Ways SetUp Grew in 2022
It is hard to believe that almost nine years ago, Setup was founded. While our brand has grown and offerings have expanded, many things are the same. Helping brands crystallize their marketing challenges and connecting them with agencies that can fill capacity or capability gaps remains our main focus.
But, while 2022 presented a number of challenges for many companies, including Setup, some exciting developments are in place for the future. Upon reflecting on the past year, we would love to share what we have cooking and how we can continue to serve the Marketing community.
Here are some of the highlights:
1. Marketing Relationship Survey - Setup’s 4th annual Marketing Relationship Survey launched with much fanfare, partly due to a partnership with the talented Jai the Sketch Guy, who created the eye-catching visuals. This year, we again surveyed over 300 marketing leaders who shared their perspectives about the relationship between brands and agencies.
2. Press - Setup was featured in the press several times in 2022:
Ad Age published and highlighted the results from the 4th annual Marketing Relationship Survey twice:
NEARLY 40% OF BRANDS LIKELY TO DITCH THEIR AGENCY WITHIN SIX MONTHS, SURVEY FINDS
INSIDE THE AD WORLD'S MASS EXECUTIVE SHAKEUP AND WHAT IT COULD MEAN FOR ACCOUNT REVIEWS IN 2023
ANA published a fantastic article that featured Setup‘s perspective about In-House vs. External Marketing Agencies:
3. Events - We were thrilled to return to in-person events in addition to our digital events:
Setup hosted two in-person #MarketersBreakfasts in 2022, as well as several digital #MarketingMixers, much to the delight of the marketing leaders who attended.
The Setup team also attended several in-person trade shows and conferences in 2022. We are elated to meet with marketers in person again after such a long hiatus!
4. Services - Setup leaned into service offerings in 2022 beyond matching brands and agencies, including:
Recruiting (with a new partner - Hire Profile)
Team Building Workshop (based on improv)
5. Agency Partners - We welcomed new agency partners in 2022, including Ansira, Funday, and Sagepath Reply.
6. Team Growth - Evan Rosenthal joined Setup as Business Development Manager.
7. Content - In addition to many more CMO Spotlights, Setup launched a series of guides for marketing leaders taking on new roles, such as a Guide for New VPs and Directors of Marketing.
At Setup, we continually look to fulfill our purpose “to unlock the power of human connections” by transforming and elevating our offerings to help marketers thrive by bringing them together with the best people and resources.
In many ways, 2022 was a transformational year for Setup, and we are thrilled about our growth as we head into 2023.
When Wicked debuted in theaters in 2024, it didn’t just break records—it created a cultural moment (some would say it defied expectations). With a jaw-dropping $164 million opening weekend surpassing other notable Broadway film adaptations like Les Miserable and Mean Girls, the beloved story featuring some of the world’s biggest stars was immediately a box office triumph and a marketing masterpiece. Behind its success was a multifaceted strategy picking out the perfect partnerships that not only thrilled fans of the original, but also reached entirely new audiences of all ages and preferences (even the musical haters).
Black Friday has undergone a dramatic transformation since its chaotic in-store origins in the 1960s. Once synonymous with one-day-only doorbuster deals and frenzied shopping, the event is now a weeks-long digital phenomenon, shaped by evolving consumer behavior, economic pressures, and innovative retailer strategies, not to mention some potential trust issues with consumers. Here’s a comprehensive look at how Brands and consumers are navigating Black Friday 2024.
