Marketers Toolbox: Latest
Note: The Marketers Toolbox series teaches our readers about new technology we're using (or experimenting with) that proves to be useful, productive, or just plain entertaining. As a marketer's secret weapon, Setup believes that the tools we use are vital to our success, thus, a marketer's toolbox is truly one of our most important resources.
Need to get quickly caught up on the news but The Skimm just isn't cutting it? Think the list of trending topics is sometimes useless? Time to check out Latest.
This platform compiles all the best links from Twitter so that you don't have to waste time scrolling through an endless feed. The list is updated in real time with the 10 most popular links.
The website specializes in aggregating technology, advertising, and design-related topics so you'll only see the links you really care about. How do they do it? Well, Latest curates a list of accounts who they found to be the best at posting links that are relevant, so you're not receiving updates on Taylor Swift's latest breakup, for example.
After the account list is formed, the site automatically indexes every link they tweet and pulls the top 10 links from there, while still keeping the source of the tweet anonymous. It's a nice way to view useful content without additional commentary tacked onto it. The story can be read without a preconceived opinion, and each individual can have their own perspective on the topic.
One thing Latest does very well is allowing users the access to post and link to the site on Twitter and Facebook straight from the home page of Latest. The web interface is very simple. The title of the link is shown and it can be accessed immediately in one simple click.
For even more updates, you can subscribe to receive notifications through your browser by sliding the notifications button 'on' at the bottom of their website. Use this tool to cut through the noise and end the endless browsing that has to be made on other new source websites. You can also follow Latest on Twitter for days you feel like checking out your feed.
